These images were made for display both as small circular icons on the SparkFun Electronics homepage & as full-width headers at the top of pillar pages going over important electronics concepts.
After initial ideation, I moved on to create clean, import-ready splines for each design’s neon tubing in Illustrator. Then I imported these splines into Cinema 4D & prepared each 3D neon sign for rendering in the default Physical Renderer! I borrowed a circuitry texture from Adobe Stock to add visual interest to the background & set off the lighting.
Not all of the icons these signs are made from are my own original Illustrator work (the soldering iron and LED are fully original, but the servo motor and distance sensing icon were preexisting assets), but all of them were prepared & taken to the finish line in C4D by my own hands.
